Wedding Photography FAQ

Booking a wedding photographer can be a minefield..here are a few questions I get asked a lot that I hope can help make your decision a little easier.

Q - How do I choose?

A - The best answer to this is simply go with a photographer's style that encapsulates you as a couple the most. I shoot mostly unposed, documentary images, which is a modern, distinctive style and will not appeal to everyone. Try not to base a decision solely on price - photographs are one of the few things that will remain with you after the day has finished.

Q - Do you photograph our wedding?

A - Yes. If you book my services you get me shooting your wedding and not another photographer working under my name.

Q - What if you are ill on the day?

A - I have a wide circle of trusted colleagues who work at the same standard as me, who would step in and cover the day. However I have never missed a wedding to date and do not anticipate doing so anytime soon.

Q - I have seen people offering all day wedding photography for £200?

A - Indeed there are photographers of all levels and experience all offering different prices for what looks like essentially the same package. However their skill or experience poses a real risk they may not be able to deliver the kind of high quality images you want. I have 15 years of professional experience and have invested in high quality camera bodies and lenses. As with most things in life you often get what you pay for.

Q - Do you offer discounts for mid-week weddings?

A - Yes, I offer discounts for mid-week (Monday - Thursday) weddings, please call me 01707 692499 or 07990 710101 to discuss your requirements.

Q - Can we have black & white images as well as colour?

A - I provide the images in colour but also choose certain images to convert to black & white. However if there is a particular image you would like to be converted this is no problem, just drop me an email.

Q - How long do you stay and how many images can we expect?

A - I cover from the bridal party getting ready until just after the first dance when the party gets started. Every wedding has different timings but generally this would be roughly from 11am to around 930pm. In terms of how many images to expect again each wedding is different but you will receive a minimum of 300 individually edited, high resolution images.

Q - Do you keep the copyright of our wedding photographs?

A - Yes, this is standard practice across the photographic industry, and is a form of legal protection. My wedding package includes a USB drive of images with full “printing” rights given to you so you can print as many pictures as you like for you, your friends and family.

Q - Can we view our wedding photographs online?

A - Absolutely, all the images will be uploaded to a secure, password protected gallery on my site. You can then send the link out to your family and friends. The gallery has an option to be set up so people can buy prints if you would like to.

Q - Do you retouch or 'Photoshop' our images?

A - I complete minor retouching on every single image, usually including colour correction and the removal of any small skin imperfections – however you will still be able to recognise yourself!

Q - Can our friends take photos on the day?

A - I positively encourage people to take their own photographs on the day.

Q - Will our images be used in a blog post after our wedding?

A - I always try to blog a small selection of images from every wedding on my site and also on my Facebook business page. However you can of course opt of of this if you wish.
